Judith Watson
Judith Watson was associate dean of the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY from its inception in 2006 until the end of 2014. She started at CUNY as special assistant to former Chancellor Matthew Goldstein overseeing new projects for the University. Prior to that, she spent 15 years at United Press International, serving as New York bureau chief, New York State editor and Albany capitol bureau chief. In a 25-year journalism career, Watson has worked as a columnist, reporter, and print and broadcast editor.
Watson is a past president of the New York State Society of Newspaper Editors. She has won the Albany Legislative Correspondents award for excellence in state government reporting and is an honoree of the Women’s Press Club of New York State. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Pomona College.
