Launching & Running a High School Newspaper for Teacher-Advisors
A certificate-earning course designed and taught by the Baruch College Department of Journalism
This online certificate course will instruct potential high school newspaper advisors on the nuts and bolts of launching a school newspaper. The course, free of charge for NYC public high school teachers, will address creating an online newspaper, brainstorming story ideas, fact-based news reporting, interviewing strategies, journalistic writing, photojournalism, navigating ethical and legal concerns, staff- building, layout, and copy editing. The course will provide certificates of completion for teachers who complete the course assignments and participate in all sessions. It is open to NYC public high school teachers who have the support of their administrations to launch high school newspapers. Enrollment is limited to 20 high school teachers.
