Carol Cooper

Carol Cooper, Ph.D. has worked professionally as a freelance journalist and music critic from 1979 until the present. Publications that have featured her work include Billboard, The Village Voice, Essence, Elle, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Film Comment, and many others. She helped start and run a high school newspaper for students at Manhattan Center for Science and Mathematics from 2014 until 2022, and now teaches Pop Music Writing, History and Engaged Media at NYU for the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music.
